  Modern Table Pad Construction
Most table pad manufacturers today use a less labor intensive method of table pad construction than the older stacked-cardboard method. Fiber core board is principally used today. The customer's table pattern is used to cut the fiber core board to the exact shape of the table. The board is slotted and vinyl is applied with adhesive over a foil film for heat absorption. The other side of the board is is covered with a flannel or felt material, also with an adhesive. Both vinyl and felt are hand tucked. Each piece of the table pad is then reinforced at the folds. This method produces a table pad that weighs far less than the traditional cardboard method. The fiber core board is therefore also easier for a customer to handle and lift.

Prestige Table Pads uses the newer, lighter fiber core board in its process.
